Privacy

No ads, no tracking cookies, no third-party sharing. Here’s the detail.

What we log

When you run a search we record:

  • the query text, mode (keyword/semantic/hybrid), and any filters applied;
  • the number of results returned and how long the query took;
  • your browser’s User-Agent string (model and OS) for spam-filtering and quality debugging;
  • a hash of your IP address salted with the current UTC date.

IP addresses are never stored in the clear. The daily-rotating salt means the same visitor gets a different hash each day, so we can count unique visitors within a day but cannot link your activity across days or identify you.

Email alerts

If you set up an email alert we keep your email address, the query you’re watching, and a pair of random tokens so you can verify the address and unsubscribe. Your email is only used to deliver alert digests and the initial confirmation message. We never share it, sell it, or use it for anything else.

Every alert email includes a one-click unsubscribe link and standard List-Unsubscribe headers so mail clients like Gmail and Outlook can unsubscribe you directly from the inbox.

Contact form

Messages sent through the contact form are stored in our database and forwarded to the operator’s email. Your name and email are optional; the message itself is required. Submissions are kept indefinitely so we can respond or follow up on bug reports.

Cookies and tracking

We don’t set any tracking or advertising cookies. A single non-essential preference (your light/dark theme choice) is stored in localStorage in your browser — it never leaves your device. We don’t use Google Analytics, Facebook pixels, or any third-party tracker.

Third-party services

  • Voyage AI — semantic search queries are sent to Voyage’s embeddings API so we can find speeches by meaning. Only the query text is sent; no identifying metadata.
  • Google Fonts — loads the Inter typeface. Google may log your IP address when the font loads.
  • Hosting infrastructure — this site runs on a single VPS in Sydney. Standard web-server access logs (IP, path, response code, User-Agent) are retained for up to 30 days for abuse detection, then rotated out.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act you can ask us to delete any personal data we hold about you — principally, any email alert subscription or contact-form message. Use the contact form or the unsubscribe link in any alert email and we’ll action it within a few days.

Changes

If we change anything about how data is handled we’ll update this page and note the date below.
